Over at Pfister they are celebrating Home Improvement Month and asked us bloggers to share our bathroom renovating disasters.
Our master bath is over 10 years old and we thought that it was definitely time for an upgrade. To begin with, the shower was way too small. A very impractical size for such a big space. Then there was the tub, which did not get very much use. It just pretty much took up space that could be better utilized. The bathroom was also definitely in need of some color and modernization.
We started from scratch by ripping EVERYTHING out, including the tile which we were not too fond of.
Once the contractor got started with the new tile we could instantaneously see a difference.
We chose a darker tile color with a decorative mosaic tile border that went along the perimeter of the bathroom and a coordinating paint color.
Since the shower’s size was our main reason for the renovation we extended it by removing the unused tub.
With the tub removed there was enough space to put in a makeup vanity, which in the end would be used a whole lot more than a tub.
The sink vanity was next on the list. The colors, cabinets, faucets, and sink bowls needed to be changed.
We opted for a darker wood finish with a lighter counter top and bronze faucets. We switched out the mirror slab with two decorative mirrors with its own light fixture above each.
This bathroom renovation took some time, but after it was all said and done we are extremely happy with our more modern and practical master bath!
