We are well into the 4th week of summer vacation, believe it or not, and a lot can be said for that past month. We are definitely keeping busy. The first two weeks were filled with routine doctor appointments for both me and the Boys. I also attended workshops for school…I guess that’s the teacher in me, can’t stay away from the classroom. The family has also taken up the expensive habit of going to the movie theater to see movies.
Kyle began Summer Camp at the local YMCA. He has a blast and is quite exhausted when he gets home. With Kyle being that always on-the-go kid, this experience has been good for him. On the other hand, Kristian just loves being at home with Mommy with the occasional trip to the YMCA’s Gym Playroom while I workout. Oh yeah, that’s another new thing happening this summer….I’m “working out”. I have come to the realization that I am quite out of shape. Needless to say they are kicking my butt. As I type this post I am extremely sore from the classes I took the past few days. OUCH!
Anyhow, during the month of June we also celebrated Kyle’s 6th birthday and if you follow me on Instagram or Facebook you would have realized that this was about a week long celebration. Mr. Kyle would not have had it any other way! According to his kindergarten teacher he has been planning for this since January! We also celebrated Father’s Day with DIY gifts (look out for those future posts).
Kyle has also started basketball at the YMCA…I told you I need to keep this one busy. Basketball is teaching this vivacious boy to tap into his patient side, which for him is a big task to accomplish. It is definitely a work in progress and he is no Lebron James or Dwyane Wade, although that’s what Dad is wishing for but he is sure learning a lot about teamwork and seeing things through until the end.
So you see a pretty eventful four weeks and I’m sure the next four will entail even more excitement for this family, with a wedding coming up, summer vacation with Grandma, the remodeling of a Bog Boy Room, and it might even consist of some unplanned mini vacations.
How are all of my teacher friends doing out there? Keeping your cool with your own kids or ready to get back into the classroom? What are some of your plans for the rest of the summer?
